Rows of rounded bear faces march across the canvas in a spectrum that runs from deep red through orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, and back to pink, giving this piece its name, Rainbow Chalk. Each row shifts gently in tone, so the chart reads like a chalk-drawn gradient stretched over a grid of stitched heads, framed by a warm brown border.

Skill Level and Time

This is an advanced project built on a 100 by 100 grid, totaling 7,500 stitches. Shading within each bear face relies on subtle color shifts between neighboring hues, which is what pushes the difficulty rating up. Plan on roughly 62.5 hours of stitching time, best broken into sessions worked color by color or row by row to keep the palette organized as the tones shift.

Palette and Materials

The pattern calls on 36 colors, including Red, Tangerine, Topaz, Kelly Green, Royal Blue, and Medium Violet alongside black, white, and a handful of custom browns that anchor outlines and shadows. Working in horizontal bands makes thread management simpler, since most rows share only two or three closely related hues before transitioning to the next.
